James Scott, interview with Michael Fairman, June 18, 2010

  • James Scott: Alison is just wonderful. I can’t think of a better way to spend your time than kissing Alison Sweeney. It’s just a perfect way to spend an afternoon. And if things do go south, then that will be the one thing I will miss most.

Goodbye Ejami

As a soap opera fan, I am well aware of the ups and downs a fan must endure before a favorite couple can be together.  I'm not one of those fans that throws a fit when it's not always sunshine and roses for my favorite pair.  But it's been a six year wait for me and I am officially heartbroken.

At the end of 2011, after months and months of no Ejami interaction, EJ Dimera and Sami Brady fell into eachothers arms after hearing their son had been killed and had what is now infamously known across the internet as "grief sex".  And while it wasn't pretty, it had Ejami fans screaming with glee. The Grief Sex incident was raw and gritty.  It was passionate and violent.  It was all Ejami fans had been missing for months.  EJ and Sami were finally saying all they needed to say.  They threw it all out there.  The shooting of EJ, the kidnapping of Sydney, the criminal activity, the lies, the betrayal. All of it right out on the table.  Yet, at the same time, there was compassion and comfort and quite honestly it was one of the best scenes I have ever watched on Days of Our Lives. It reminded fans why they love this couple.  EJ and Sami bring chemistry like no one else can.  It can't be denied.  Not for long.

For months afterward grief sex things were quiet on the EJami front.  Then Rafe found out about Ej and Sami.  It was the start of five happy months of Ejami.  There was a slow build from hatred and mistrust to forgiveness and trust then to friendship and romance.  I squealed like a teenage school girl with every grin and every near kiss.  Romance was back in the afternoon and I was loving it.  And then BAM! It was over.  Just like that.  Ejami was gone.

The rehired writers didn't like what the new writers had done in their absence and set about erasing all that the new writers had done in the past year.  Hello again, Rafe.  Only, the writers don't seem to understand they can't erase the past year.  They can't erase the year that I watched Rafe cheat on Sami with her sister Carrie and then follow Carrie around like a little puppy hoping she'll pick him over Austin.  They can't erase the year I watched Rafe not give a flying shit about Sami and who she loved or who she was involved with.  They can't erase my memory.  They can't take it back.  We haven't forgotten.  And we won't forgive.  Rafe is a Carrie lover just like all the others and Sami Fans will not accept him as Sami's mate, not ever again.  But the writers don't seem to give a shit about that.

And now EJ is blackmailing Rafe to keep Rafe and Sami apart.  It's upsetting that these writers don't know EJ and Sami.  Maybe they need to watch a little Ejami history.  EJ has ALWAYS loved Sami.  And while Sami likes to deny it, Sami has ALWAYS loved EJ.  It's how it will always be.  So screw you, writers.  Your writing is predictable.  Sami will find out.  Sami will be mad at EJ.  Sami will fall into Rafe's arms.  Well, yippee for the 5 SAFE fans out there. But news flash, you lousy Days Writers.  You may have killed Ejami.  Maybe you even feel proud of yourselves.  But you won't be around forever.  Writers come and go on Days of Our Lives.  (Some go rather quickly. Don't get too comfy).  But EJami is forever.

Lisa Rinna in Car Accident

Lisa Rinna, who plays Billie Reed on Days of Our Lives, was in a car accident on Friday morning after dropping her daughter off at school.  Rinna tweeted about the accident saying "Angels watching over me! I was just in a car accident so lucky the guy turned right from the left lane and I was in the right lane Bam ... I'm OK! Very lucky. Car not so much."

She later tweeted, "Little shaken up that's for sure but I'm OK! Could have been really bad. I'm taking a deep breath and relaxing trying to stop shaking. Scary."

"I'm good and a car can be fixed! Thank my angels for keeping me safe and no kids in the car! Lordie, who knew I'd be spending the day like this. As I always say - could be A lot worse!"

Glad to know Lisa's ok and to know that Lisa does regular mom stuff like take her kids to school.

Damn You, Rafe!

Today's episode of Days of Our Lives had me cursing Rafe Hernandez, the biggest hypocrite in Salem. Rafe shows up at Sami's door, gawks at her in her lovely pink dress, then tells Sami what a fool she is for going on a date with EJ.  The pompous ass actually suggested to Sami that she be alone because hell, it wouldn't kill her to be independent!  When insulting Sami did nothing but cause her to slam the door in his face, Rafe invited himself in and declared he was concerned for Sami's children because they've been through a lot the past few months.  What a load of shit!

Rafe doesn't care one whit about Sami's children.  What Rafe cares about, and what Rafe has always cared about, is keeping EJ away from his own children. Rafe likes the thrill of taking from EJ what belongs to EJ.  Rafe encouraged Sami to hide Grace from EJ.  Rafe encouraged Sami to keep Sydney and Johnny from EJ.  And the second Rafe found out Nicole was pregnant, he vowed to keep EJ away from that baby too.  Rafe isn't concerned for Sami's children.  He's concerned EJ might actually get to be a real father to them.

Are we supposed to believe that Rafe loves Sami? Is that supposedly why Rafe kissed Sami today? I call bullshit. Rafe doesn't love Sami.  He constantly puts her down.  He fell all over himself panting after Carrie when that disloyal bitch came to town. Rafe didn't care if Sami was with Lucas or EJ as long as he could hook up with Sami's sister and screw EJ over one more time by denying him his baby.  Rafe's a shit and I'm fed up with having SAFE shoved down my throat. Declaring his love for Carrie was the ultimate betrayal and it's one I'll never forgive Rafe for.

Get off my screen, Rafe. And get out of Sami's life.  She doesn't need your judgments or Carrie's leftovers. EJ Dimera, I know you are being shitted on once again by the lovely writers Gary Tomlin and Chris Whitesell (who should be receiving tons of hate mail from Ejami fans!) but do hang in there. You are the only one worthy of Samantha Brady. We EJami fans will stick by you and forgive all the bullshit you will be forced to do and/or say under writers who clearly hate you and support SAFE / Galen Gering for their own personal agendas while disregarding Ejami fans who outnumber SAFE supporters 5 to 1.

Here's to Gary Tomlin and Chris Whitesell pulling their heads out of their asses, or to the two getting fired! Either works.  Ejami Forever!  :)

It's a Date!

It's all smiles for Sami Brady and EJ Dimera on today's episode of Days of Our Lives.  It was all smiles for me as well.  Nothing says happiness and squealing school girl glee like a day of Ejami scenes.

EJ and Sami ran into each other in the hallway of their apartment building after having parted ways earlier in the day for EJ to meet with the Governor and resign as Mayor.  Sami asked EJ if he'd like to come in and EJ practically darted in with a "Darling, I thought you'd never ask," which was absolutely the cutest thing. EJ and Sami flirted for a bit and Sami got around to asking EJ to dinner to which he happily accepted.

The best part about EJami scenes is EJ.  EJ lights up when he's with Sami.  He was smiling and goofing and he seemed giddy. When Sami asked where in the world was the real EJ Dimera, Ej told her that he felt lighthearted and liberated.  EJ asked if he could plan the date himself for tomorrow night.  He told Sami that he wanted it to be perfect to which she teased him and said it shouldn't take 24 hours to make a phone call.  Ej told her in the interest of full disclosure there was another reason he wanted to move the date to tomorrow.  It gave him more time to look forward to it.  Awwww.

We know from the spoilers that the EJami date isn't going to happen because of Rafe.  Stupid Rafe. I don't know what the Gary Tomlin, the Head Writer for Days, plans to do with Ejami and in my opinion it isn't looking so good.  But I will enjoy every moment James Scott and Alison Sweeney are on screen together.  Their chemistry is unmatched and I haven't felt this excited for EJami in a long time!

No Shooting Eachother and No Cloning Anything? Dull, Dull, Dull!

Today on DOOL, EJ asks Sami out on a date to the Green Mountain Lodge for lunch.  Sami agrees to go and EJ leans in for a kiss.  Sami stops EJ to give him some conditions if they are really going to do this.  "No shooting each other, no cloning anything, no kidnapping or lying,"  to which EJ replies "Dull, Dull, Dull.  Look at you.  You are a picture of domesticate."  When Sami sticks her hand out to shake on it, EJ readily shakes and then gets the kiss he was waiting for.

And here I sit squealing with delight!  Unfortunately, I have to get my EJami scenes in between stomach churning SAFE scenes.  The scene prior to EJami's pact had Rafe and Sami getting close.  Sami asked Rafe how he felt about her and Sami was a bit too close to Rafe's face if you want to know my opinion.  Before Rafe could answer, EJ knocked on the door and declared to Samantha that he had a surprise for her.  Nosey Rafe wanted to know what it was and EJ delightfully changed the subject to Nicole's baby which served as a reminder to Sami that Rafe was having a baby with Nicole.  Gosh, you gotta love how slick EJ is.  Upon mention of Nicole, Sami quickly dismissed Rafe out of her apartment to which Rafe replied "Oh. Right. Guess I misread the situation here."  Sami continued to usher Rafe to the door and as he turned to leave Rafe looked at Sami and said "Really?" and Sami just shut the door without a word.  Oh my. Sami's at her finest when she's being bitchy. Alison Sweeney has my heart.  <3

Now what I didn't like today was Miss Hope Brady and that meddling little look she gave after she heard EJ tell one of the governor's aides that he was resigning in order to more time with his family.  We've already seen Hope encourage Rafe to hand deliver Sami's hankie that he'd found in the Square. Let's hope Hope minds her own business and leaves Sami and EJ alone.

Lisa Rinna exiting Days of Our Lives Again!

It seems that Lisa Rinna, who plays Billie Reed on NBC's Days of Our Lives, will be leaving Salem again.  “She's leaving so she can do all of the 500 other things she loves to do. She's working on her Belle Gray line for QVC, she’s writing another diet and fitness book, plus she’s developing a vitamin supplement line and lingerie line. She’s also in talks to do a panel-type talk show,” a friend of Lisa's said.

Before her most recent return, Billie Reed was last seen on Days of Our Lives in 2005.  Since Billie's return to Salem in March 2012 the character hasn't been given much of a storyline.  Billie was a sounding board for Austin during his Carrie problems, and helped Kate with Countess W. for a short time.  She flirted a bit with Daniel Jonas, and harassed EJ for a bit about setting up John.  But we never really saw a meaty storyline given to Billie.  It's almost as if the writer's don't know what to do with the character of Billie if they don't have her chasing around Bo Brady, which just goes back to what I said originally:  Billie Reed is finished.  We've heard all of her story.  Sometimes it's important for the writer's to realize this and to move on.

Good luck to Lisa Rinna.  I happened to love her when she played Billie Reed the first go around and was a huge Billie/Bo fan when Robert Kelker-Kelley played Bo.  But alas, those days are gone.  I wish Lisa all the best and much success.

Chemistry Between Alison Sweeney and Galen Gering Feels Contrived

There's nothing worse than watching a couple on NBC's Days of Our Lives whose actors have zero chemistry together. You know it's bad when the writer's begin writing into the actual dialogue of the show how we the viewer should feel about certain characters or after particular scenes.  This is what is currently happening with Alison Sweeney and Galen Gering as Sami Brady and Rafe Hernandez respectively.

On yesterday's show, Sami was mugged and hurt her wrist in the process.  And in a very fake fashion, Sami fell on top of Rafe.  Rafe disgustedly asked Sami, "Could you get off me?" After bringing Sami to the hospital Rafe and Sami had a little spat. It was a stupid little back-n-forth on who was right about her wrist and got more serious when Sami questioned Rafe about being Nicole's baby's father.  If Rafe is the dad, Sami wondered, why isn't he going with Nicole to her doctor appointment? There was lots of "What's it to you?" and "I don't want to talk about this with YOU," from Rafe and equally snotty responses from Sami.  As I watched I honestly felt like these people hated each other.  Rafe came off as annoyed and hassled.  Sami came off as contemptuous and slightly disgusted.

But then Nicole came in.  She said to Rafe "Question is, will you betray yourself for the woman you love?"  When Rafe denied he's in love with Sami, Nicole said "Well, seeing you two a little earlier, you could have fooled me."  Nicole later said "Okay. Think what you want. But the eyes don't lie. You two look like you haven't even been apart."   And all I was thinking was "What the hell did I miss?"  What I saw wasn't even close to what Nicole declared to have seen.  Nicole apparently saw hidden passion and love in Rafe and Sami's eyes. I saw annoyance and contempt. What I saw with Rafe and Sami was a couple of strangers who didn't ever want to get to know one another.

If we are supposed to see chemistry between Rafe and Sami, then the actors actually need to have chemistry.  And Alison Sweeney and Galen Gering don't. And it's insulting that the writer's think I can't form my own opinion based on what I see and that instead I need them to tell me what I saw and how I felt about it.  The banter with Rafe and Sami doesn't come across as fiery and passionate the way Sami and EJ's fights always do.  The fights with Rafe and Sami seem to come from a place of disgust and dislike. Sami being with someone who genuinely dislikes her as a person is insulting and degrading. That's not the "romance" I want to see.

Does Galen Gering (Rafe) have Days of Our Lives Head Writers in his back pocket?

Galen Gering has worked on NBC's Days of Our Lives since October 2008 portraying Rafe Hernandez, an FBI agent hired to protect Samantha Brady from the "evil" EJ Dimera.
For fans of Days of Our Lives, Rafe and SAFE (Sami & Rafe) have always been controversial.  For some fans, Rafe was a breath of fresh air.  He was viewed as the good guy Sami always needed to help Sami settle down and lose all the chaos that had always characterized her life.

For other fans, Rafe was the death of all we loved about Sami.  We had to say goodbye to passionate, impulsive Sami.  We watched for months as she cleaned her apartment, had sex with Rafe, and cried about losing custody of her children.  Gone was the Sami who had a plan. Gone was the Sami who'd do anything (and by anything I mean anything!) to keep her children safe. Gone was the Sami who acted first and worried about the consequences later. The Sami who replaced her was just a shell of who we once loved.  We mourned her.

And then Days of Our Lives Executive Producer and Head Writers were fired! Gary Tomlin was Executive Producer for Days of Our Lives from Sept. 2008 - Sept. 2011. Dena Higley and Christopher Whitesell worked as Head Writers from 2008 - August 2011.  They were responsible for storylines such as all that was Rafe and SAFE, the Nick Fallon stalker story, Kate's lung cancer, Hope's prison storyline including Jen's heart transplant!, Chloe as a prostitute, the awful way Louis Sorel was treated as Vivian Alamain, Taylor Walker with EJ Dimera.  Horribly awful things is what I'm trying to get at.

The new writer's came in and fixed alot of the mess. Suddenly we saw our beloved impulsive, passionate Sami again.  We saw the beginnings of Ejami and the ruination of SAFE because honestly, who can ever forgive Rafe for wanting Carrie? We saw Taylor Walker removed from Salem along with that loser Quinn.  We saw John and Marlena returning.  Good things were happening.  And then BAM! The new writers are FIRED and guess who's back in? Gary Tomlin and Christopher Whitesell, authors of all that's awful.

Now what are we seeing on Days of Our Lives?  Oh look, there's Nick Fallon. And my goodness, are they seriously trying to work Rafe back in with Sami after having that selfish little slut Carrie tell Rafe he should go back to Sami since Carrie was leaving with Austin?  You've got to be kidding me.  But it all fits, doesn't it?  Galen Gering as Rafe was Gary Tomlin and Christopher Whitesell's little invention.  SAFE was their stupid idea.  Nick too, for that matter.  And because Gary Tomlin and Christopher Whitesell are pompous asses, they think they know better than us what we fans want to see.

Well, news flash Mr. Tomlin and Mr. Whitesell: SAFE sucks.  Do some damn research. Scour the internet, read the blogs and forums.  Safe doesn't work on any level. Not for those who enjoy Rafe and not for those who love Sami. SAFE isn't what we want to see.  EJami far outscores the competition, with Lumi coming in a close second (and you'll have to debate a Lumi fan is you want to get away with this statement!) SAFE doesn't even register on the richter scale.

Mr. Tomlin and Mr. Whitesell, we might be okay with the dead coming back to life, the dopplegangers, the devil possessed, and mind control switches - but we aren't okay with a husband going after his wife's sister no matter how hard you try to sell it.  Galen's been around for 4 years. He's a MINOR character.  SAFE no longer works. It's time for Rafe to go. The next time you arrogant asses fire someone, how about Galen Gering instead of canning fan favorites like Peter Reckell and Matthew Ashford.

EJAMI or SAFE?

EJ or Rafe?

Looks like we're getting a Ejami vs Safe storyline for the fall.  Who's your pick?

Eric Brady as a priest?

Days of Our Lives has confirmed that Greg Vaughan has been cast as Eric Brady, Sami's twin brother and Nicole Walker's first love interest. On August 13th, Kristian Alfonso tweeted a picture of herself, Eric Matsoff (Brady), and Greg Vaughan on the set.  In the photo it looks as if Eric has become a priest.  In an interview with EW, Vaughan said this about his new character: “He’s been a world photojournalist. He’s just a guy who has a found a new direction in life. He has kind of re-gravitated in a different direction, more so than what the audience expects. The question will most likely be why he has chosen this new direction in life.”

I have to say my first opinion of this is WHAT? Who in the world wants to watch Eric Brady as a priest? I was already having a hard time with Greg Vaughan being Alison Sweeney's twin because Vaughan looks much older than Sweeney from the photos I've seen.  But a priest?  We did the priest thing with John Black a few years back and unless someone's gonna be possessed by the devil then I'm not really into doing it again. Hopefully bed-hopping Nicole will get Eric to turn from the priesthood.

Let's close the book on Rafe, Sami

After reading the fall previews for Days of Our Lives, I have to say I feel like I've been doused with ice water.  The viewers are being promised a fight between Rafe and EJ for Sami's heart. Yippee! (Please infer the sarcasm in my tone because my yippee was just dripping with it).  My question would be, why is there a fight?  Rafe loses. Game over. Hello Ejami!!  What am I missing?

Oh, that's right. The writers and producers of DOOL are determined to never let fans see EJami come to fruition. They like to taunt and tease us for SIX long years while never giving us what the majority of fans want to see. They like to waste all the hot, steamy chemistry that Alison Sweeney and James Scott share on screen.  Ok, fine.  EJami has to work for it.  That's fair. It is a soap opera, afterall. (although let's not forget how DOOL totally destroyed the chemistry Sami shared with Brandon once upon a time by teasing us for years with Brami until we just stopped caring.)

But please explain why the hell the triangle would include Rafe Hernandez? Rafe hasn't wanted anything to do with Sami since February when he found out Sami slept with EJ when Johnny went missing. And let's be honest.  We all know Rafe was secretly happy about what Sami had done because it gave Rafe the green light to go after Sami's slut sister, Carrie. Rafe also wasted no time at all becoming Nicole's BFF and claiming to father her child which is a forever commitment and one he knew Sami wouldn't be happy about.

But the kicker - the REAL insult - is that Rafe wanted nothing to do with Sami until Carrie left town and gave Rafe "permission" to go back to Sami since he couldn't have Carrie.  If that doesn't make you want to vomit, you aren't a real fan of Sami Brady's.  Rafe Hernandez is a waste of space loser who couldn't keep from falling all over himself when he laid eyes on Carrie just like all the other guys in Sami's past.  With the exception of one.  EJ Dimera.  He's never even looked Carrie's way.

EJ and Sami belong together.  They are THE couple of Days of Our Lives.  The writer's need to figure this out before it's too late.
